Kitchener Record
KITCHENER (Dec 11, 2004)
A 19-year-old Kitchener man charged with arson and endangering life
in connection with three separate fires this week will appear in court
Dec. 16 for a bail hearing.
Cory Young was arrested Thursday, several hours after police said a
fire was set on the front porch of a Cameron Street home.
A family of five, including a two-year-old little girl, were sleeping
when the blaze broke out just after 2:30 a.m. They managed to escape
just in time as flames and smoke tore through their home.
A fire was also started at 12:40 a.m. at Krista's Hair Salon at 268
Frederick St. Another was started at 10 p.m. Wednesday at a display
booth inside the Frederick Street Mall.
Young is in custody but appeared briefly in Kitchener court yesterday
with lawyer Steve Gehl.
The slender teen, wearing blue jeans, a hooded blue sweatshirt and
sneakers, sat quietly in the prisoner box as Gehl set the new date for
his hearing.
He is charged with two counts of arson endangering life and one count
of arson-damage to property.
