ANA’S Safe Streets

Letter related to maintaining property standards in order to restrict illegal drug & prostitution from occurring in the ANA.

Thursday December 4, 2003

It has been brought to the attention of the board that there have been a number of properties in the neighbourhood that have been used as the base for illegal activities including drug dealing and prostitution.

The board has worked with the City of Kitchener, by-law enforcement, Waterloo Regional Police Services, Waterloo Regional health services, The sheriff's office and the Kitchener Fire Department to ensure that the safety and quite enjoyment of the neighbourhood is maintained.

In an effort to deal with these types of issue we have also worked in cooperation with adjacent neighbourhood associations to gain the benefit of their experiences and the strength that comes in numbers.

Through these efforts a home on Weber street has recently been cleaned up by the landlord with the above agencies assisting him in moving the offending tenants out of the neighbourhood.

A letter dated December 4th has been sent to the Cedar Hills Community Group as they attempt to bring additional resources to this issue.

A copy of that letter can be viewed by clicking here.
