It
has been brought to the attention of the board that there have been a
number of properties in the neighbourhood that have been used as the
base for illegal activities including drug dealing and prostitution.
The board has worked with the City of
Kitchener, by-law enforcement, Waterloo Regional Police Services,
Waterloo Regional health services, The sheriff's office and the
Kitchener Fire Department to ensure that the safety and quite enjoyment
of the neighbourhood is maintained.
In an effort to deal with these types
of issue we have also worked in cooperation with adjacent neighbourhood
associations to gain the benefit of their experiences and the strength
that comes in numbers.
Through these efforts a home on Weber
street has recently been cleaned up by the landlord with the above
agencies assisting him in moving the offending tenants out of the
neighbourhood.
A letter dated December 4th has been
sent to the Cedar Hills Community Group as they attempt to bring
additional resources to this issue.
